Fletch

My doors have a story of there own, the first set from CRP were made with NO support for the door hinge… click here to see more details and photos of how CRP made all of there door.

After figuring out that my door did not have the hinge plate mounted to any steel, I brought my doors back to CRP to show them that there was no steel in the doors. Seeing the problem, I was told that I would get a new set of doors and my old doors were thrown in the dumpster (so I am told) and a new set of doors would be made... a month later CRP went of out business and I was stuck with out doors.

There was an employee working at CRP (Will Rietveld) who felt sorry for me, after promising me a new set of doors, and never receiving them... Will took it on himself to honor his word, and build me another set of doors.

Let me explain, Will was an employee of Steve's (CRP) and when he saw all the crap that Steve had done to his customers he felt bad (Will is actually reliable, accountable and responsible – not the normal trade mark of CRP). After CRP went out of business, Will was determined to not let me hang. He made a deal with Monty Robinson (another CRP victim with bad doors), to make a copy of Monty’s SV CRP doors and build a new set of doors as a two piece door (inner and outer door). This way I can mount the inner door to the hinge, then mount all the window mechanism and when everything is working then I can place the outer skin onto the inner door frame.

My personal thanks goes out to Will and Monty for helping me out in getting me a new set of doors. With out there efforts, I would be door-less... having to use another manufactures doors, which as we all know they would not fit and I would have had to rework them to make them work. As if the doors are not hard enough to work on with out all these kinds of problems.

I just received these photos from Lance at JLS Motorsports, as they are testing the new doors to the body. As Lance mounted these doors (still taped up from delivery) it would appear to have some small fitting problems. These are not really a problem, after removing the tape he found that the inside door skin relaxed to the correct position.

Check this section on body mounting and you can see how the doors are pinned to get them to allign correctly... Body Mounting

In this shot you can see my tires that I just bought
