Hinge Plates Mounting The photos below illustrate what and where the door hinge is mounted. |
|
Here are a few pix of the stock pass side door hinge from my IFG VT. They are welded/bolted to some steel that is bonded into the body, and I will reinforce them with some steel to my chassis later, They look pretty sturdy, but I will have to see how much more reinforcement they need with the glass in the door and the gas cyl hooked up. This view is looking up from in the wheel well. |

Here is my (premounted) door hinge, the hinges came prehinged from D&R.
I really did not do anything other than take a picture of it.

The main tab out from the top frame is 3/8th by 2 and the other is 1/4
by 2, and a 1/2 by 1/2 square tubing for a down brace. Came out very stiff! |

D&R style hinges worked great. I‘ve had the doors swinging straight for a few months now. Final welding will follow later. As you can see, the ADL kit does not have a recess in the fiberglass to accept the hinging hardware. This door will rise higher with a different and longer strut support. It’s all trial and lots of errors! Thanks to RKS Designs for getting me this far.
