| Body - Doors - Rear View Mirror (old version) |
Fletch This is my first set of rear view mirrors from CRP. When I put down my deposit for my kit, I asked Steve to send my something to start working on, I was happy to receive these mirror frames. They did give me a chance to learn how to fiber glass... but the bottom line is that they were not a representation of a Diablo mirror, they needed a LOT of work. After talking with Steve (CRP) he pulled some new molds off of a real Diablo which looked much better. |

| This is the original mirror frame that I received from CRP, you can see it still has the mold lines. | I cleaned up the lines with a Dremel tool and some sanding. |
| You can see that the mirrors and frames (left and right) parts are NOT the same. |

| The mirrors are laying flat on the sidewalk, yet the plates are at different angles and length are not the same. Even the center (cutout) slots are different (longer). | As the mirrors are faced flat on the ground the mirrors plates are at different heights from the ground up and the angle is different. |

| Note: The brackets posts have a roundish dome to them (about an inch at the apex). The originals Lamborghini mirrors appear to be about ½" to maybe ¾" thick and they are flat. | I took a belt sander to the bracket post, I removed about ¼ inch of round arch to make them flat and thinner. The top post in this pictures still needs another ¼" taken off. |

| Notice that the placement of the post on the plate are in different places (lengths). The mirrors breakaway cuts are in different places (both cuts are closer to the plate (the original mirrors breakaway line is in the center of the bracket post). |
This is the other side. The plates are not flat and the plate is missing the other half of the molded part that mounts onto the door.

| Where I am pointing was a arch in the fiberglass post. I grinded down about ¾" to get "this" mirror to look like the other mirror, it still needs more sculpting |

After I showed Steve these photo he came up with a "new" mirror frame (you ever wonder why you never saw a photo with a finished CRP car with mirrors attached). Good News... I don't have to worry about trying to make these mirrors work, and it was a great practice learning tool for my first time working with a part in fiber glass. |
