Body - Door - Power Windows

Bob
This is a Lambo window regulator compared to a Jeep Cherokee , '90-'91 or so. This might make a useable unit if I can get ahold of another one, and combine the riser assemblies to a common motor.

These are the Fiero power window motor, now I have to figure out a way to mount them.

Skinless Door

Here is the door with the outer skin off. If I was an extremist, I could have had the door glass trimmed at the bottom, this would allow it to go deeper into the door, as it stands when it is fully lowered there is about 2.5 inches above the sill still exposed, I think I can gain another .5 by trimming some excess material away.

There is a detailed "manual" that Dale has created for you to view (in regards to this section). This instruction manual is on how he built his IFG Phantom Roadster. (click on his logo to visit his web site)

The window motor assembly consists of a slide that is pulled by cables up and down a track. To make them fit the window in the Diablo, it is necessary to shorten the track. The length is 14.5" You will have to make a new slot to hold the cable assembly. Prior to cutting the track, clamp the cable to the side so it does not unwind in the spool and jam the assembly. (Experience talking) Cut off the track and then use the top as a template to make a new groove to hold the cable assembly. After the assembly is inserted into the track, you will need to tighten the remaining cable and then clamp it off and remove the excess. Notice the springs on the motor assembly. They should have some tension on them at all times. Once the cable has the proper tension, use a clamp to make the cable tight and then remove the excess cable. The assembly is then bolted to the frame for insertion into the door.

Power Window Track

Currently working on the power window tracks. I first fitted the track in the doors to see how short I needed to cut the track. Then I temporarily removed the upper cable slide in order to make a template of the hole. Then I cut marked and cut the hole with a Dremel tool at the location corresponding to the place I will cut the track. I did this at this time since I did not have the cable ends yet. You will need cable ends (that get crimped onto the cable) when you shorten the track. Check Dale's site (window section) to see where you pull the cable. The finished track will be attached to the door frame using a door hinde.

Luis A. Yanez

Luis sent me these photos of Hector's door using Fiero power window motor.

Luis A. Yanez

Luis did not start off with the Fiero window motor... Luis wrote me with this "I trashed all the other stuff and used the Fiero window motors and voila, perfect running windows all the way up and down. I can't tell you what a big load off my back it is, to get that window working. It is much more solid than the other way and the window tracks much better".

These are the different methods the Luis started off with, this is a cable operated regulators from a mazda 626.
