Competitive
Mountain Biker, I ride close to 10,000 kms per year. Competes in 24
hour racing as a solo competitor.
I started working on cars at 13 years, my first
car was a Mini Austin, and I paid $80 for. When I was 16, and after
I had done a lot of work to it I started racing it in the local light
car club. I then got a 1500 Triumph Spitfire, I spent a year restoring
it from the frame up. I had the displeasure of being pinned under the
car when a jack stand tipped. After these couple of cars I moved into
trucks and started off roading a lot.
Along the line I worked on two other kit cars,
a Seven replica and a Ferrari 308. I dabbled a bit with BMW's when I
bought a 5 series and a couple of years later a 7 series. They are way
to expensive and even harder to beef up. Over the years I did a lot
of welding and mechanical work just for fun on the various cars and
trucks. I did a lot of port and polish work on heads. I once put a 500+hp
383 into an 89 Chev S15 Jimmy. I built it to race and to also off road.
There were few cars that I encountered that could out run her.
I have built a few other chassis and plenty of
components with friends who race regularly.
My first dream for a kit was a Countach, I actually
kept the advertisements from the late 80's. Prices have not changed
much. I remember when I first saw the Diablo and thought that it was
a bastardization of the Countach dream. I set myself a goal that I would
buy my first kit before I was 35 and I did.
I
started working on the chassis for this kit in DEC of 2000, I picked
up the NAERC kit on DEC 14, 2001
My wife is the ultimate, she is very supportive
and really knows a lot about Diablo's. If it were not for her there
would be no kit.
If anyone needs help with any part of their kits
I am happy to help.
