email: r.rubenstein@worldnet.att.net
City, State: Boca Raton, Florida
Nick Name: OrangeSV

Type of car: SV
Body: Building it myself
Chassis: Fiero tub / handmade subframe
Engine: LT1
Transmission: Porsche 930
Starting date: Febuary, 11 1990
Projected finish date: 8/04

Influences: I've worked in the car business for nearly 17 years. From a mechanic, to running a body/paint shop, to Sales Mgr. at a car dealership. I've built a few Diablo replicas over the years, the one I am now building is my own. My business partner has a genuine '98 Diablo SV, and although he enjoys teasing me about my car, he's developed a newfound respect for the amount of work that goes into making a realistic replica. Having lived in Florida since '85, I've seen many kit-car firms sprout-up and disappear. Florida is notorious for it's con-artists, etc... The original kit body my project is based on is a Jovi (nowdefunct)kit. It was based on a very early D&R body, but was so shoddily contructed/molded, that is was essentially unbuildable. I have spent the past number of years sculpting a plug from a heavily cut and spliced body. It is nearing the molding phase. Although I don't intend to go into the kit business, I will have molds of every part of a kit.
I enjoy seeing all the other builders who participate in this "sport", who take the time to post their work on the net. My time is scarce, but I am always happy to contribute and help out, if anyone needs the help. Although I can attest to the Diablo-kit market having grown and "matured" since the mid-90's, there are still a lot of "holes" in the build and parts-search process.

Occupation: Resort Sales

Hobbies: Was a working musician, by night in FT. Lauderdale, since '85.... I finally had to concede that as I reach for my 40th B-day this X-mas, it was time to finally quit the gigging scene.... This has left me a lot more time--and energy to work on my project!
