Notes - Knott's Berry Farm Car Shows 03'
Diablo "Builders"

Last year I didn't meet any of the other builders and this year I meet a lot of them (face to face). I think this was the best part of the show!

This is a great shot of Dale Van Blokland and Andy Bujtas looking at the Diablo Kit that Luis (Wild-Rides) had at the show. This is was the best part of the show... taking to the other builders, trading building stories... how did you get that part to fit and work.

Below Dale and Andy are talking about reinforcing the front bumper with a skid plate underneath (attached to the frame).

Note from Dale - When I was at Knott's I was talking with Andy about the front air dam and how I had reinforced it. I have a little over 500 miles on my car and if I had not reinforced mine with the skid plate, I would have had to repair it at least twice. First was not being able to see the front (jundgment error) and I hit a concrete parking bumper in front of the auto parts store. Normal car would have cleared it. The other times is pullng out of a driveway or side street where there is a dip. The nose on these cars is very long and you had better hit these at an angle and very slow to avoid damage. Even with my air shocks in the full inflated position, the skid plate will come in contact with the road first. Because mine is 5/16" by 5" plate that is secured to the frame, it will carry the weight of the car past the low point. I know other builds do not have this and I am just sharing what I have experienced. I actually use the front plate to jack up the front of the car. Because the plate is finished into the fiberglass, it is not visible from the front but definitely serves a useful purpose. http://www.lambobuilder.com/Manual/Bumper.pdf
Dale Van Blokland, who just finished his IFG Roadster and has the pleasure of actually driving it
Monty Robinson and Will Rietveld - Monty is sitting in JC's Diablo Roadster... dreaming of what it will be like when when he has his car completed. Will worked at CRP before it closed (helping the last of us CRP victims to get our parts before the doors closed).
This is Monty and his son Monty Jr. - I have to add that Monty Jr. was pointing out all kinds of cars for his dad to build next.

Here is the group shot in front of JC Hamlin's Roadster.

Here is another photo, zoom in on the builders... forget the car.

This is JC Hamlin, standing next to both of the car that he brought to this show. He also brough with him a beautiful Ferrari F50
These are some great guys to hang out with and finally meet, this was the highlight of my trip... meeting the builders!
OK, there I am sitting inside the car Luis brought to the show
This is my youngest Daughter Samantha (13) and my wife Cindy (29 well that's what she tells me) talking to Will Rietveld.
My daughter Samantha wanted to get the feel of a Diablo, here she is in JC's car
And know she is trying out the car that Luis's brought to the show car... I personally think she looks much better in the passengers seat... and not behind the wheel.

I had the pleasure of having Luis pay me a visit at my house after the Knott's show on Wednesday (I figured since my wife was not able to make it to the show, I would bring a little of the show to her LOL :0} ) I will be turning my car over to Luis in a few months so that he can complete it for me.
This is a photo of Luis and his wife Susan, and daughter Marisa.... and of course, that is my wife Kate
This is a picture of me and my son in J.C's car you can see my brother Tony and his baby Kathleen in the background.
