During the 1999 production year a special edition of the Lamborghini
Diablo VT was built for the United States market only, this model was designated
the Diablo VT Alpine Edition, with special Alpine audio equipment mounted
in the Diablo.
Other special features were the use of Carbon Fiber for many parts visible
on the outside, like the adjustable part of the standard rear wing and the
air intakes in front of the rear wheels, which on these cars were chrome
finished.
But the most interesting part about these Alpine Editions was the fact
that only 12 would be built, each one numbered and being fitted with a
plaque stating the serial number of the Diablo.
The Alpine Edition Lamborghinis possessed their own exclusive colors
with a stunning metallic paint job. The blue color on the Lamborghini
you are bidding on could possibly be one of two or three of its color
in the world. It is a very rare color and looks beautiful in under light.
This limited edition Diablo was surely to become a collector's item from
the start, since only 12 would be built, exclusivity was obvious. The
standard V12 engine in the Diablo VT was fitted with a Supercharger system
by Platinum Motors, they also performed a similar installation on a Diablo
SV and recently on one of the rare Millennium Roadsters.
The resulting performance of this modified Diablo was awesome, outperforming
just about everything that it might encounter on the open road, combined
with the obvious advantages of the VT drivetrain it was still handling
very well, some may prefer a rear wheel drive Diablo, but these can sometimes
surprise their driver, while the VT stays more neutral most of the time. |
