sitting in the parking lot at my work.
The new Diablo sets a
new benchmark for high performance sports cars. The Lamborghini
Diablo 6.0 is newly redesigned for 2001 and features both new technology
and a new design.
It features a new body
design with a new front bumper and spoiler and wider fenders to
house the wider front and rear tires. The entire body is carbon
fibre except the doors which for safety reasons are aluminium and
the roof is made out of steel. The chassis has been reinforced with
carbon fibre inserts increasing the torsional rigidity of the structure.
The new Diablo is propelled
down the road by a newly designed 6 litre V12 engine. The new engine
produces an output of 550 hp at 7100 rpm and 620 Nm of torque at
5500 rpm. This is capable of launching the Diablo from 0-60 mph
in less than 4 seconds and can reach speeds of over 200 mph. It
also utilizes the 4WD transmission based on the well proven "VT"
(Viscous Traction) system which is used in the previous Diablo Roadster
and VT Coupe.
The newly designed interior
is aimed at combining sports style with elegance and comfort. The
instruments have been redesigned for better visibility. The interior
features a combination of elegant hand-stitched leather and sporty
carbon fibre and aluminium. Airbags for driver and passanger are
standard. An Alpine sound system with a 6 disc cd changer keeps
the music playing when your not listening to the sweet sound of
the 6 litre engine.
