Chassis - Fiero - Body Cuts

After visiting this section on body cut you might want to also check out the Stretching section. The stretching section will also give you some close up shots of what needs to be cut off for your Diablo body

I don't have to many photos of my Fiero chasis, I didn't have a digital carera, and I didn't think I would have a web site. I cut the body by removing the engine compartment completly, I was planing on using a sub-frame that would fit a longitude engine.

This is the last photo I have of my Fiero chassis. It is in the JLS Motorsprorts shop, I delivered it to Lance to remove all the front end suspension parts off of this chassis and install them to my new tubular chassis.

I wanted to give you some of the parts that I ordered from the The Fiero Store for my chassis rebuild...

57502 - Cradle Mount Bushing Kit - Polyurethane
58022 - Steering - Rack & Pinion
58026 - Steering Stabilizer
56057 - Big Bore Brake master Cylinder
64300 - Clutch Lever (cast iron)
64358 - Bushing for Pedal shafts (@.97each - total 4 needed)
64900 - Bushing for Steel Clutch pedal only
57032 - Front Swaybar, Heavy Duty 1", w/mounting hardware
56200 - Adjustable Brake Bias/Proportioning Valve

TIP - Fiero Strip down:
Make some money off your parts, instead of trashing these parts to the dumps. If you strip off anything that you don't need, such as all the body fenders, hood, lights, seats, interior lights, radio… anything are not going to use and sell over e-bay. Take pictures and give good information on what they are, and you should get a nice return back on these Fiero parts.

There is a detailed "manual" that Dale has created for you to view (in regards to this section). This instruction manual is on how he built his IFG Phantom Roadster. (click on his logo to visit his web site)

One of the biggest pieces of advice that I can give you... don't throw away ANYTHING! You will need a lot of the piece from the door, even small things like the brake line frame clips.

In this photo I am close to finishing the front end these are my cuts so far.

I cut off the rear end of the car, but still have some trimming to do to get everything set up right. I used my hoist to hold up the back while I cut.
This is the striped down passenger tub, ready for the sub-frame.

This is a great example of the step-by-step process need to strip down the Fiero

I made my own dolly that doubles as the jig once I get it exact and level. I then will mount the body.

A straight and solid chassis can be built right in your backyard as I'm doing, level everything front to back and side to side.
