I used a stiff piece of wire and ran it where it needs to go for measuring. I used the old Fiero shifter to get the pivot point measurement and it ended up at 93 5/8".

I ordered the shifter from Jeff Field at Transaxle Engineering.

I had to modify the shifter base from the Fiero for the new cable shifter. I first removed the bottom most edge of the new shifter so it would sit as low as possible in the shift bracket.
Then I removed all the shifter stuff from the Fiero and welded some pieces to mount the shifter. You can see how it sits in the original Fiero shift position.
I made one minor mistake when ordering my shifter. It was about 1" too short, could have used two inches. I had to extend the select cable, you can see the small extension. It doesn't seem to affect the shifting at all.

Refurbished Fiero Shifter

Smaller components such as the shifter, gas pedal, brake/clutch pedals, etc were refurbished - taken apart, rust removed, stripped of any paint, repainted, lubricated and put back together again.
