Front - Bumper - Side Marker

I am using the side markers that I purchased from Kit Car Accessories for $24 each. I did purchase two Amber for the front and two Red for the rear.

The CRP bumper had indented dimples to make the hole cut outs very easy to place. From a front view the side marker light looks all right.

When you get a side view you can see that the light protrudes out over an 1/8". I personally would like to see that light flush with the body, so I am electing to take the time to recess the light into the body just a little more. This shot illustrates the light protrusion.

These are photos and comments from other builders about there installation methods.

Dale Van Blokland

Side marker lights were positioned by drilling a 1" hole 8" in from the seam and down 21/4". the marker was place in the hole and a line scribed around the light. I used my cut off tool to cut out the opening.

I used waxed paper to cover the back side of the light and inserted the light into the opening. I then applied bondo to the back side and later glassed it in. The waxed paper kept the bondo from adhering to the light. When the light was removed, I now have a recessed receptacle to hold the side marker lights.

There is a detailed "manual" that Dale has created for you to view (in regards to this section). This instruction manual is on how he built his IFG Phantom Roadster. (click on his logo to visit his web site)

I made a galvanized steel plate to mount my side marker lights. They are bonded to the body forming a little box that the side markers are mounted in. Two piece of 1/8 x 3/4 flat stock is used for the side marker bolts. They are drilled and taped to 10-32 to hold the bolts. This view also gives an idea of the car's stance.

On the Exotic Relicacars kit, the indentation in the body is in place for most everything. Here I have drilled the holes and am showing the OEM light ready to go in!

I was loitering at the local autoparts store on the weekend. Up rolled a 1979 Fiat 131s. I was surprised to see the Diablo side markers. The Fiat markers use the black rubber backing but other than that, it is clearly the same marker as the Diablo. When I bought mine, they came with the backings - good for filling the land fills.
