Interior - Firewall - Rear

These are photos and comments from other builders about there installation methods.

Dale Van Blokland

This interior firewall was made of 1/4" MDF board.

Luis A. Yanez - (Hector's Project)

The finished panels in the rear area are made out of 1/4 inch masonite, the side panels and roof trim area are made of 1/16"ABS plastic. We chose this so that we could heat the plastic and bend it to give some areas the correct shape.

Above the subs, on one side will be mounted the amp and control box of the CVA-1005 (alpine) and above the other sub will be mounted the x-overs for the MB squart seperates along with an alpine 6 disc cd/dvd changer. All will be mounted in with leather trim panels on top, with only the components visible.

The speaker boxes are made of 3/4" Medium Density Fiberboard. I am using the rear firewall as part of the enclosure so we will have to Dynamat that area. We will probably use dynamat on some of the 1/16" abs just for sound deadening.

I cut this out of 1/4" hardboard. It works really well and endded up fitting pretty well. I will probably make the window opening just a bit bigger. More like a peep hole than a window.

The seatbelts I chose are perfect. I need to move them up a bit on the firewall (they are not bolted on yet that is why they look a bit off.

I built a substantial structure behind the firewall to support the belts. It is never going to move. The thread on the seatbelt bolts is M12X1.25 - a unique and hard to locate tap!!

This is another shot. The firewall - (ha) is from .25 hardboard.

Not much resistance from fire I'm afraid. I will be adding another layer to more closely simulate the original around the window opening.
