| Fletch 8-20-02 I ordered my sensor lights from J.C. Hamlin what a great deal this turned out to be. JC had some artwork made and created this as his custom set of indicator light strip and it comes with the button tops. You can email JC and see if he has any left... Here are the
details of this strip: JC recommecds that you use Super Bright Leds behind this indicator strip. Here's a low-resolution version of the graphics that JC had made |

| The sheet contains
4 parts, and 15 button covers. The top part is your finished dash overlay
-- be careful with it as it will be visible as your finished product.
The next arch is the exact same size and shape, and indicates the light centers. You can use this for test fitting, practice cutting, and drilling holes (if you're going to put your lights right into your dash). The three circles are 7/16", 1/2" and 9/16". The inner circle is 7/16" -- that's the bounding box for the icons. The 1/2" is the recommended hole size for when you drill out the holes for your lights. The outer circle, the 9/16" one is the actual center-to-center spacing of the holes. Four holes in the middle are NOT used. From left to right there are 22 holes used, 4 unused, and then 15 used (41 total holes indicated). And the bottom two parts represent the size and shape of the blocks for the LED mounts that I'd recommend making. Here are some photos of mine:
The two blocks cost me around $200 to have made at my local acrylics shop (or about, I haven't gotten the final price yet). They told me that if we got 10 orders, they'll be about $120 each, and if we got 100 orders, they'll be about $60 each. If you're interested in purchasing these, let me know. I'll count up the orders and if we get enough I'll put them in.

| 8-23-02 My sensor lights arrived today from J.C. Hamlin - This is going to work out great, the indicator strip is thick and of very good quality. I am extreamly pleased with this... thanks JC | |

| Here is a close up of the strip, already cut ready to use. |

The art work looks great, BUT it does not match with my CRP dash. This is a wide shot and it is hard to see how it does not fit so below are close up shots. |

| JC was kind enough to send me a uncut version of this and it looks like I will have to use that. Believe me I am not complaining about the sensor strip... it is great... I will just have to figure out a way to use it with this dash! |

| These are photos and comments from other builders about there installation methods. |
|
I built the light boxes out of white plastic. After I got them put together, the light reflected too much and the edges showed through the front so I went back and painted them black. I got 6 bulbs from Ron Francis Wire Works to go in the sockets I made templates in Word and printed them with white text. I used pieces of transparent folders from Office Depot for the colors that I wanted. It is not even in the same league as the ones that JC did but they are functional. |
