This is the real deal on the mid 90's golf with the external spoiler, OEM Lambo Third brake light.

Fletch At present I have NOT purchased any brake light.

These are photos and comments from other builders about there installation methods.

There is a detailed "manual" that Dale has created for you to view (in regards to this section). This instruction manual is on how he built his IFG Phantom Roadster. (click on his logo to visit his web site)

This is the OEM Third brake light. It is found on 95 VW Golf GTI with the rear spoiler, it is a Hella light that uses 8 bulbs rather than LEDs. I cut a template from some hard board to trace the hole, since the light is curved in two directions making it very hard to cut a hole into the body, I could not trace it on to the body.

This is a shot of several things. You can see the hole cut for the 3rd brake light and there is also a good view of the extra relief around the vent on the lid itself - a nice OEM touch.

I also took some pictures of the Cyclops light that I had to install in my car, that I purchased from Ken (NAERC). I have to be really careful cutting, slicing and dicing too because the car is already painted.

I found a place that you can get a third brake light from. I purchase mine for $45 they sent me the whole wing from a 1995 Jetta, they shipped me my light within two business days and they give you a 30 warranty. Here is their web address:
